Washington Fire And Flood Survivors Prepare For Winter

Methow Valley families know they have a long, difficult winter ahead. And they’re trying to get ready.

The area was hit hard by fire and flood this summer and the federal government denied the state’s request to provide “individual assistance” to residents of the Methow Valley.

On Saturday social service agencies and volunteers are holding a resource fair in the town of Pateros.

The resource fair will provide people with everything from warm hats and clothing to legal help. There will also be groups there taking notes on what residents want to see in the area’s long-term recovery.

Methow Valley volunteers are also planning a day this month to help neighbors rebuild fences and clean up damaged properties.

The Methow Community Resource Recovery Fair will be held on Saturday, October 11 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at 169 Pateros Mall, Pateros, WA 98846. For more information contact Lael Duncan, LaelD@occac.com
