A group of Tri-Cities, Washington, residents hiked 14 miles across Richland, Kennewick and Pasco Tuesday to protest the shooting of Antonio Zambrano-Montes by police officers.
Although public participation in events for Zambrano-Montes has waned a bit, a small band keeps at it. Jeremy Peterson of Kennewick walked the entire route.
“It feels great to do what we did today,” he said. “And seeing this through as we walk toward Vinny’s [Bakery] where Antonio was killed. This feels like something that was important, like this needed to be done.”
Crossing from Kennewick over into Pasco, Peterson said he wished the group would have had numbers to block city streets along the way.
Unmarked police cars with tinted windows kept watch on the protesters as they marched.
