SPOKANE, Wash. - The Navy has confirmed that all three people on board a military jet died Monday morning in a crash in eastern Washington. Their plane went down during a training exercise about 50 miles west of Spokane, near the farm town of Harrington.
The three were members of an Electronic Attack Squadron based at the the Naval Air Station on Whidbey Island.
Naval Air Forces spokesman Lieutenant Aaron Kakiel declined to speculate about the possible cause of the crash.
“Our biggest thing right now is our thoughts and prayers are with those family members that are dealing with this loss – doing what we can to help them, as well as making sure we investigate this thoroughly.”
The Navy is withholding the names of the people killed until their families have been notified.
The jet they were in was an EA-6B Prowler. Its primary role is blocking enemy electronic signals.
