Washington’s Republican candidate for governor Bill Bryant has unveiled his first TV ad of the general election. It comes the same week Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee hit the airwaves with his first ad.
Traffic is the title and topic of Bryant’s ad. It features the candidate behind the wheel, stuck in a jam. Bryant doesn’t say how he’ll fix it, but by leading with traffic he’s talking about an issue voters in Democratic Puget Sound can relate to.
Last year Inslee signed a 16-year, $16 billion transportation investment package. And the big statewide issue facing the next governor is education funding. But with Seattle mired in the fourth worst traffic in the nation and complaints about toll lanes, Bryant thinks he has an issue that will resonate.
Bryant’s campaign said it has produced more ads, but is still trying to raise the money to get them on the air.
