All the bullet fragments have been recovered from the Pasco police shooting scene and body of Antonio Zambrano-Montes.
That’s according to the Kennewick Police Department. They’re leading an investigation into last week’s police shooting in southeast Washington.
Ken Lattin is the spokesman for Kennewick police. He said detectives want to know where Zambrano-Montes was in the hours, days and weeks leading up to his death on February 10.
“His actions are not normal,” Lattin said. “None of you would stand out at 10th and Lewis Street and throw rocks at cars and when the police show up, throw rocks them and then run. That’s not normal, reasonable behavior, we just want to know why.”
Lattin said they need more witnesses.
Zambrano-Montes was shot on a sidewalk near a large Mexican grocery store. Witnesses said he had been throwing rocks in a busy intersection.
Investigators said they don’t know yet if he was carrying a rock at the time police shot him on the Pasco sidewalk, or if he was holding anything in his hands.
Some Hispanics from the Tri-Cities are calling for a federal Department of Justice investigation and are talking with Senator Patty Murray’s office.
