Trump's State Director Says 'Give The Guy A Chance'

Washington Legislature
Republican state Sen. Don Benton served as Washington state director of Donald Trump's presidential campaign.

One person who’s celebrating the election of Donald Trump is his Washington state director. And Republican state Sen. Don Benton said he was confident Trump would win.

But to those who are dismayed, Benton has a message.

“I would say give the guy a chance to perform, see what he does,” he said. “And I think people are going to be very impressed with what the outcome of all of this is going to be. It’s going to be a great day in America and we’re going to make America great again, just like Mr. Trump said.”

For his part, Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee said he’s hopeful that Trump will work to find common ground. But Inslee said he’s concerned about a potential repeal of the Affordable Care Act as well as efforts to repeal Roe v. Wade or otherwise restrict abortion.
