Christy George

Christy George is a multi-media news editor for the Northwest News Network and other public radio stations across the West.

Her work has been widely aired and published across platforms from local and national radio and television to newspapers and online publications. As an N3 editor, she shared a 2020 Public Media Journalists Association, Spot News award with correspondent Anna King. Her reporting won three Emmys, first-place Edward R Murrow and Gracie Allen awards and multiple Associated Press and Society of Professional Journalists awards. She shared Marketplace Radio’s 1998 team Columbia-duPont Silver Baton. She was a 1991 John S. Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University.

Christy is the co-chair of the Society of Environmental Journalists’ upcoming 2023 conference, to be held in Boise, Idaho. She’s received two grants from Portland’s Regional Arts and Culture Council and attended four writing residencies to work on a creative nonfiction book and she was a Hawthorne Fellow at Portland’s Attic Institute.
