Northwest leaders are moving ahead with climate change discussions abandoned by the federal government. The U.S. withdrew from the Paris Climate Accord this month.
???In November, global leaders will meet in Bonn, Germany, to further flesh out details of an international climate agreement signed in Paris last April.
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown will be among them. She said it’s now up to states to meet goals outlined in the Accord, which include efforts to decrease greenhouse gas emissions.
“I think it’s critically important that we work together as states, whether it’s replicating best practices or collaborating on implementation of new initiatives like our low carbon fuel standards that we are working with California on,” Brown said.??
Washington Gov. Jay Inslee will also travel to Bonn alongside California Gov. Jerry Brown, who has been named a special advisor for states and regions at the conference.
